Success Story — Franchise — PORTAS
PORTAS® is Europe’s No. 1 renovator, with around 300 franchise partner operations in 13 countries. cloudshift® was selected for the cloud operation of the global content management system. PORTAS uses a specially developed portal system based on the Microsoft® .net platform as its technical platform. We are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the main websites, as well as the sites of the approximately 300 franchise partners, and the associated groupware infrastructure based on Microsoft Exchange®. All websites must be accessible without interruption 365 days a year. The customer data that is collected should not leave Germany and is stored and managed centrally in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which we also operate, in compliance with GDPR.

Merck KGaA is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and chemical companies. Nearly 60,000 employees currently work in 66 countries in the Healthcare, Life Science and Performance Materials divisions. For Merck, we implemented and operate the multi-client capable tool used centrally by the group for sending e-mail newsletters to employees and customers: Hundreds of departments at all global locations use their own clients of this system to independently design and send newsletters according to corporate design specifications and to evaluate the campaigns. Every year, several million newsletters are sent out via the system. We not only operate the technical infrastructure, but also provide round-the-clock support for the system.

With more than 25,000 employees, Carl Zeiss AG is one of the leading companies in the optical industry. The Shared Service Center Accounting is its internal service provider for the areas of Accounting, Human Resources and Policies & Guidelines. Employees work at different locations, but must be able to access the same documents and information at all times. We operate the intranet based on Microsoft .net as a managed application in a ZEISS private cloud. The private cloud is seamlessly integrated into the ZEISS corporate network so that employees can only access the intranet from the ZEISS network.

Engelhard Arzneimittel is a pharmaceutical company with approximately 350 employees. Its best-known products include Prospan®, isla®, Sinolpan®, Tyrosur® and Chlorhexidin®. As a medium-sized company, Engelhard Arzneimittel operates an individually developed intranet based on Microsoft SharePoint®, which we run in our cloud environment as a managed application. We take care of the complete maintenance, all updates and guarantee continuous operation. The intranet is seamlessly integrated into the company’s IT infrastructure via a dedicated connection. Extremely high availability, personal contact persons, GDPR-compliant operation in Germany and support for integration into the existing IT are decisive advantages that cloudshift® can offer.
Success Story — Aviation & Airline — China Airlines
China Airlines is the official airline of the Republic of Taiwan: With more than 80 aircraft, it connects around 120 destinations throughout the world. We operate the intranet system for the airline’s European stations in our cloud, which employees use to exchange information within the company, manage documents and execute defined processes. The Exchange mailboxes were also outsourced. Both applications are managed and administered by cloudshift®. These measures saved internal resources and significantly increased security and availability.

Success Story — Public sector — City of Heusenstamm
The city of Heusenstamm is a municipality south of Frankfurt am Main with almost 20,000 inhabitants. The municipality has decided to operate all municipal websites in the cloudshift® cloud. An individually developed content management system based on Microsoft .net is used. All websites are operated by us as managed services, ensuring that they are up-to-date at all times. This measure has significantly reduced the workload of the city’s IT department. Security, availability and elastic scalability of resources are decisive advantages of operating the applications at cloudshift®.
Success Story — Healthcare — Dialysis Center Heusenstamm and Seligenstadt
For the dialysis center with two locations, we have outsourced the entire IT infrastructure to our cloud. All medical software applications as well as the standard Microsoft® Office are provided to the employees exclusively via virtual desktops. As a result of this step, PCs no longer need to be maintained at the workstations in the two centers. These have been completely replaced by so-called maintenance-free thin clients. The requirements for data security, backups and data protection could even be achieved more quickly and easily in our cloud than would have been the case within a local environment. Since access to important patient data must be guaranteed at all times, failsafe clusters and multiple redundant connections to our cloud are used. Of course, the highly sensitive data is encrypted, secure and GDPR-compliant and stored exclusively in data centers in Germany.
Success Story — Retail — Lexington Company
For the German, Austrian and Swiss branch of the Swedish Lexington Clothing Company, we have outsourced the employees’ workstations to the cloud via our Virtual Desktop solution. This saves local IT support and guarantees seamless working from different locations or even from home. The virtual Windows® desktops are supplemented by Microsoft Office 365®, which is used throughout the company. The use of Microsoft Teams®, for example, significantly improves communication between the various teams. In addition, employees can also access the company-wide ERP software via the virtual desktops. IT outsourcing not only allows Lexington to focus on its core business in fashion, but also enables fast and flexible scaling that supports the company’s growth.

The Jazz Initiative Frankfurt is an association with the goal of creating better presentation opportunities for modern jazz in Frankfurt am Main. With over 700 members, the initiative is an important Frankfurt association. Every year, about 50 jazz concerts with over 7,000 visitors are organized in various Frankfurt locations. The concert series “Jazz im Palmengarten” has been held every summer since 1959 and is considered the oldest continuously organized open-air jazz concert series in the world. For the association, the website represents the most important channel for communication with members and concert visitors. An error-free, fast and continuous operation of the site is crucial. cloudshift® not only runs the high-performance hosting of the site, but is also responsible for the regular updates of the WordPress website.

Favendo is one of the leading companies in the field of Real Time Location Services (RTLS) for indoor positioning and mobile tracking and navigation solutions. Customers include shopping malls, cruise lines, airports and facility management companies. Since Favendo itself has a high level of technical expertise, the advantages of cloud operation of all Microsoft Exchange® mailboxes were obvious to the company. In order to meet the high legal standards in Germany for the digital dispatch of business-relevant documents, audit-proof archiving was also set up. This allows the company to focus on further growth in its core competencies.
